There are many of tools like this one. Most have been around for some time. MyWheelName.com was created because I wanted something fun and fresh to help with random decision making.

The question is why a visual wheel feels fundamentally different from regular decision making? Lists can be boring and your brain starts evaluating, you start ranking, and before long you've spent ten minutes on a decision. A wheel introduces some excitement and anticipation. The slowing animation, the beat before the pointer settles, it turns a chore into an event.

The psychologist, Barry Schwartz's argument is that more options make decisions harder, not easier. The research has its critics but the experience is universal. When you can choose anything, choosing nothing becomes strangely appealing. You loop back to the same playlist, the same dinner and the same movie you've already seen.

Assigning the small stuff to a randomizer breaks that cycle. Your mind accepts the outcome instead of evaluating it. The mental load drops and the relief you feel when the result lands, often reveals more about what you actually wanted.
